Overview

Elva is a relationship coaching app that helps couples strengthen their connection through daily check-ins, personalized nudges, and shared challenges. Your privacy is fundamental to how we build Elva. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and how you can control it.

Data We Collect

Information you provide

  • Profile information — your partner's name, relationship start date, and relationship goals.
  • Check-in responses — mood and connection ratings, free-text reflections, and context tags you select during daily and weekly check-ins.
  • Nudge interactions — whether you tapped, responded to, or dismissed nudges.
  • Challenges & memories — challenge completion status and relationship moments you choose to save.

Information collected automatically

  • Device language — used to generate content in your preferred language.
  • Anonymous analytics — we collect aggregated usage data (e.g. feature adoption, error rates) to improve the app. This data is not tied to your identity.

Information we do not collect

Elva does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data, or browsing history. No advertising identifiers are used.

How Your Data Is Stored

All relationship data (check-ins, nudges, memories, challenges, and your profile) is stored on your device and synced privately through your iCloud account. This means:

  • Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
  • Only devices signed into your Apple Account can access your data.
  • We do not store your relationship data on our servers.

How Your Data Is Used

AI-powered features

To generate personalized nudges, check-in questions, challenges, and relationship insights, your relationship data is sent to a third-party AI service through a secure connection. This includes check-in responses, nudge history, saved memories, and profile information. The AI service does not retain your data between sessions and does not use it for training.

Analytics

We collect anonymous analytics to understand how features are used and to identify bugs. Analytics data is aggregated and used solely to improve the app. We do not sell analytics data or use it for advertising.

Notifications

If you grant notification permissions, Elva schedules notifications for nudges and check-in reminders. Notification timing is configurable in the app.

Third-Party Services

Elva relies on the following third-party services to function:

  • iCloud — encrypts and syncs your data across your devices through your private Apple Account.
  • AI service — processes your relationship data to generate personalized nudges, questions, and insights. Data is not stored or used for training.
  • Analytics — collects anonymous usage data to help us improve the app. No personal information is shared.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud account for as long as you use the app. Deleting the app removes all local data. iCloud data can be removed from your Apple Account settings.

Children's Privacy

Elva is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of Elva after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
